NOAH & THE ARK
(Genesis Chapters 6-9)

fighting, not sharing, stealing

As time passed by, people in the world became more and more wicked.  People turned away from God and sinned greatly. They did and thought all kinds of bad things. People would lie, cheat, steal and murder.  They also prayed to the sun, moon and stars instead of praying to God.

People did not want to obey God and did not want to follow his good ways.  This made God very sad and his heart was filled with pain.  So God was angry with them and said he would send a flood to cover the earth with deep water.

But there was a good man that pleased God-his name was Noah. God told Noah about the flood that He was going to send on the whole world, so he showed Noah how to get ready for the flood.

God told Noah to build an ark, a very large boat, three stories high, with big rooms, and having a long window and a large door on the side.  God said that when the boat was finished, Noah and his family and his sons and their wives would live in it and float in safety when the flood came.

God also told him to bring a father and mother of every kind of animal that was on the earth in the boat, so they would not drown when the flood came.

Then Noah built a boat.  It took him a very long time to finish building it, more than a hundred years.  In those days people lived longer than they do now.

While Noah built the boat, he also told the people that God said that a flood would come and cover all the earth, because of their sin.  But the people did not believe him, they kept on doing their evil deeds and they were not sorry for their sins.

After the boat was finished, God told Noah to take all his family and the animals into the boat, because in seven days the rain would start and the flood would come, and everyone outside the boat would be covered by the water.

So Noah took his wife and his three sons and their wives into the boat. Pairs of animals, of birds and of all creatures that move along the ground, male and female, came to Noah and entered the ark, as God had commanded Noah.

When all the animals and Noah’s family were safely inside the boat God closed the doors shut.

Seven days later it started to rain a lot. Soon, there was so much water that it lifted the boat off the ground. It rained without stopping for forty days and forty nights.

All the people that did not listen to Noah's warning were drowned.  The only people that were saved were on the boat.

God took care of Noah and his family during the heavy rain.  Finally, the rain stopped and dry land began to appear.

After Noah had been on the boat for 150 days the water had gone down so much that the boat rested on top of a mountain called Ararat.

When the ground dried enough, God told Noah and his family to come out of the boat and let go all the animals that were in the boat.  Noah continued to do everything as the Lord commanded him to do. And he loved and served the Lord with all his heart.

God promised that never again will there be a flood to destroy the whole earth. And he said, "As a sign to prove that never again will the waters become a flood to destroy all life and cover the whole earth He showed Noah a beautiful rainbow in the sky. And God said, "Whenever I bring clouds over the earth and the rainbow appears in the clouds, I will remember my covenant (my promise that I made) between me and you and all living creatures of every kind.

So we have learned that it is important to obey God, to put our trust in his unfailing love and promises and to guard ourselves from learning bad and evil behavior.  God has promised to bless us and to see that we have good success in everything that we do if we learn to obey His word, as he instructs us through the bible.

So, Noah obeyed God and he saved him from the flood. And God blessed him because he learned to put his trust in him and he walked with God .
